Operations Quality Manager- Butter & Powder - Land O'Lakes Inc.

The Operations Quality Manager- Butter & Powder, ensures compliance to Land O'Lakes QMS, food regulatory requirements, and customer quality/food safety requirements at Land O'Lakes dairy manufacturing sites. The individual guides plant quality teams in creating, implementing, and maintaining quality and food safety programs for new and existing products and manufacturing processes. Partners with cross-functional teams (R&D, Sales & Marketing, Regulatory, Legal, Distribution, Operations, and others) to ensure a culture of quality and food safety throughout the organization. Communicates results for quality and food safety metrics and quality issues and events at facilities. Onboards new plant quality managers, plant quality staff, and other plant leaders. Assists with hiring of plant quality staff and with training on product safety and quality related subjects. Completes root cause investigations and CAPA plans for product safety and quality issues, audit findings, and customer complaints.

This position will work remotely, Salary range are $102,480 - $143,500.00 is negotiable based on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Coach, mentor, and direct work of plant quality teams at dairy manufacturing sites.
  
• Ensure food safety and quality requirements are met, investigate product safety and quality issues with the site, and verify root cause investigations and CAPAs are completed. Guide plant on hold product disposition.
  
• Engage corporate and external technical experts to partner with site Quality Assurance teams to develop and implement robust programs to ensure product safety and quality requirements are met, and that protect company brands.
  
• Guide plants in monitoring and analyzing product safety and quality data, including customer complaints and feedback, product testing results, ingredient issues, audit results, and product and processing parameters. Communicate and work with customers as needed.
  
• Work with cross functional teams on development and maintenance of product specifications, ingredient and supplier issues, design and commercialization of new products and manufacturing processes. Support line trials and first production runs as needed.
  
• Communicate quality metrics, audit results, quality and food safety events, and customer compliance issues to corporate quality and operations leaders. •Onboard new plant quality managers, plant quality staff, and other plant leaders. Assist with hiring of plant quality staff and with training on product safety and quality related subjects.
  

• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related disciplines, or equivalent work experience & seven (7) years of experience in production, quality assurance, or sanitation within the food or pharmaceutical industry. In lieu of degree, eleven (11) years' experience in production, quality assurance, or sanitation within the food or pharmaceutical industry
  
• Five (5) + years of experience in a progressive leadership role in plant quality or corporate quality roles.
  
• Extensive experience in HACCP, quality assurance standards, food laboratory testing, and statistical process control techniques, and food processing sanitation.
  
• CQE, LEAN, or Six Sigma certification and/or experience preferred
  
• Multi plant experience is preferred.
  
• Experience in dairy processes and sanitation, in butter and powder manufacturing is highly preferred
  

Travel: This position requires 50 to 75% travel with core plants in Tulare, CA and Carlisle, PA. Other sites as needed, ideally lives near a major airport is highly desired.
