Function: Operations Job Summary: The Ammonia Operations Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the production plan (budget) for the Ammonia Plant is met in a safe, efficient, timely, and cost effective manner each and every day. This position directs, develops, and manages the Production Department toward continued accomplishment of its objective of the safe, timely production, storage, and shipment of product in the correct quantity, quality, and cost. Safe operations, planning, coordinating, communicating, and controlling are major responsibilities of this position. Job Description: Responsibilities: Embraces safety and environmental stewardship as a core value of leadership. Develops and maintains effective relationships with other departments at Woodward to obtain the required assistance in meeting departmental objectives. Develops and maintains effective employee relations. Maintains effective programs in safety, cost control and reporting, and manpower training, development, and utilization. Monitors plant operating conditions and takes necessary corrective actions to meet department objectives. Directs and/or recommends necessary changes to plant processes, equipment, procedures, or staffing to meet departmental objectives. Executes a succession plan for the Unit’s operations leadership. Oversee the progression and training planning for the operation technicians. Prepares and administers department budget and assist Production Manager in the preparation of budget for the area, including long term and short-term planning. Assist Production Manager in the preparation of the turnaround and outage plans. Participate in CF production best practices. Coordinates the performance of the Production Department. Prepares operating strategy to meet production plan. Coaches and develops Production Department Supervisors. Maintains effective communications and working relationships with employees throughout the plant. Mobilizes quickly without acting impulsively, showing good judgment. Acts on one's own initiative, and coordinates actions to plans of the Production Manager. Works independently and under conditions of high interdependency. Develops and implements operational plans which deal with such activities as maintenance turnarounds and employee development programs as well as producing product in a timely and efficient manner. Internal Controls: Establishes and implements processes and procedures to meet departmental internal controls requirements. Ensures that established processes/procedures are followed as designed. Works with Internal Controls Department to identify deficiencies in existing processes/procedures, the need for new ones, and the extent to which such processes/procedures are being followed. Develops and implements corrective actions with regard to department internal controls as necessary. Required Qualifications: B.S. Engineering – Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with experience in chemical manufacturing processes to include Supervisory experience. Effective leadership skills. Exposure to project management and implementation. Solid communication skills including the ability to effectively converse in English, compose written documents and interact effectively with peers and supervisors. Familiar with applicable codes, regulations and standards. Successfully complete pre-employment physical and drug screening.
