Operations Supervisor - LANTA Transportation

RESPONSIBILITIES: The staff position responsible for the dispatching of LANTA system buses at the Allentown garage. The duties include recording payroll statistics, dispatching buses, addressing operator inquiries on routing and scheduling, preparing and making emergency adjustments to daily operator schedules, handling emergency situations affecting rerouting of the LANTA system, answering consumer information calls, and selling tickets and transfers.

This position will require a work schedule of nights and weekends.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

• Responsible for buses leaving the garage on schedule throughout the operating day.
• Preparation of daily operator schedules, assist in booking of vacations and sick hold downs.
• Call out to operators to fill runs on an emergency basis.
• Provision of system information to operators and monitoring of operators' compliance with established rules.
• Completion of various reports and statistical reviews as required.
• Preparation/computation of operator payroll statistics.
• Handle information calls and complaints from the public referred by telephone operators or in their absence.
• Handle radio calls for connections, breakdowns, or other problems.
• Implement route adjustments due to weather, construction, or other factors, send alerts to affected drivers, and communicate details to necessary departments.
• Operate and understand the capabilities of the AVAIL/ATMS system and give feedback to drivers for non-adherence to runs/timetables.
• Provide street support for drivers.
• Conduct inspections to ensure on-time performance and work quality.
• Assess/ Record complaints and/or accidents as per LANTA's operating procedures.
• Participates in meetings, webinars, and trainings related to job duties.
• Enforcement of policies and procedures for the purpose of adhering to LANTA's operating procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma and CDL operator's license.
• A minimum of two years experience in Transportation.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Knowledge of LANTA system operations.
• Ability to deal courteously and effectively with employees and the public.
• Demonstrated skills in computer operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
• Ability to operate a bus in revenue service.
• Working nights and weekends is required.
