Operations Technical Project Manager
Location: Whitehouse Station, NJ
Duration: 6 months CTH or Full Time
Job description
Role: Lead project teams to strategize and implement a portfolio of technology projects that span across Insurance Operations and other important partners. Have end-to-end oversight and management of joint solution design with all partners, solution development, implementation, and post-implementation reviews with a focus on creating efficiency and scale. We are looking for a team-oriented professional who has the confidence and desire to work with architecture and engineering teams through the development lifecycle – requirements, business analysis, implementation, and testing phases with a focus on release and production support management.
Responsibilities:
• Work with project sponsors and Insurance Operations teams to scope, design, prioritize, and manage technical operations roadmaps, key performance indicator definitions detailed work plans, resource needs, and, budget and timelines for the work intake.
• Lead technical project teams and the end-to-end management of system implementations (such as platform integrations, data feeds, rollout of new technology interfaces).
• Analyze project risks, develop recommendations for risk mitigation and communicate mitigation options to management and partners.
• Proficient in how to deploy the team's technical toolkit to solve operational challenges
• Implement and lead process improvements that markedly move the organization towards operational excellence and develop solutions that radically improve the efficacy and efficiency of existing operational processes or unlock new capabilities through technology and automated solutions.
• Maintain relationships with important partners (such as Product, Engineering and Data) through partnership, and the high-quality delivery of projects.
• Introduce tools, best practices and systems to support more efficient technical program management and execution.
• Lead a team to ensure successful execution and supporting their professional and personal success through coaching.
• Product Development to ensure to establish and follow the L1 and L2 Support Process
• Experience working with remote teams, and ability to communicate in different time zones and manage productivity
• Exposure to data integration/modeling
• Planning and directing tasks; Determining resource requirement and costs; Preparing schedules; Assigning work to subordinates; Monitoring progress of tasks and preparing progress reports
• Have full understanding of all operations projects and goals
• Review all operations projects to determine and set priority levels of each project based on urgency and impact
• Manage operations project backlog to ensure those projects are initiated when appropriate
• Identify and schedule kick off and check in meetings when appropriate
• Ensure projects are well thought through using the DMAIC methodology
• Ensure clear roles, responsibilities, deliverables and deadlines are defined
• Be constantly aware of each project's overall status
• Establish and manage operating rhythm for a specific area, including communication structures, project templates, sprint cadence, review forums and leadership cadence
• Manage Portfolio Governance and operations – Clarity time management, Vendor management and SOW processing, Status and management Reporting
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of technical project management/process-oriented operations work experience (lean operations, project management).
• At least 5 years of experience in design, development, testing and delivery of production worthy systems of which at least 3 years should be of managing projects in Agile model (Scrum)
• Experience managing a technical or system implementation.
• Bachelor's degree or 4 years commensurate experience
• Bonus points: PMP/Lean Six Sigma certification, Insurance experience
• Metrics-driven project management approach, always guiding partners towards 'zero defects'.
• Understand the technical concepts, architecture, systems, development methods, testing and deployment methodologies for successful execution of the project
• Expertise in Clarity, MS PowerPoint, JIRA, Confluence
