We are Fairview Health Services are looking for an Optician to work at the following Fairview Clinic locations: Brooklyn Park, Andover, Eagan, and Fridley. This role is approved for 64 hours every two week, and is benefit eligible. Fairview Optical Shops offer a wide variety of stylish designer eyewear and complete contact lens services! We ensure they are staffed by certified opticians who can help our patients select the best look and fit for their prescription eyewear.
Responsibilities Job Description
M Health Fairview ophthalmology providers enjoy the use of the state-of-the-art technology for imaging, laser treatment, and diagnostics for sophisticated eye care needs. Our highly skilled surgeons bring training from across the country using safe, modern, and effective techniques. Our patients also benefit from the opportunity to participate in clinical trials, where our providers and scientific faculty are collaborating to help present and future patients with the exploration of new and improved treatments for a broad range of conditions.
The Optician is a member of the Optometry care team. The Optician measures, fits, and adapts lenses and frames for client according to written optical prescription or specification. Assists client with inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses. The Optician prepares work orders for optical laboratory containing instructions for grinding and mounting lenses in frames.
+ Greets patients and cares for customer needs for glasses and contact lenses. Example: Custom fit of glasses, fill new Rx, repair current glasses. Dispense glasses or contact lenses etc.
+ Analyzes patient eyeglass prescription. Based on patient occupations, hobbies and expectations and fills Rx. Works with Ophthalmology and Optometrist to provide phenomenal patient care
+ Final inspection of all lab jobs. Checks prescriptions, lens extras, segment heights, and segment placement. Checks frame style, size, and color. Document dispenses.
+ Handles the frame board to maintain the highest selling product and remove outdated or discontinued items. Maintains office appearance: cleans office mirrors, shelves, cleans inventory.
+ Maintains and files daily and weekly reports for locations as needed. Maintains patient records and patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
+ Lensometer experience
Preferred Qualifications
+ Graduate from an accredited Optician program
+ 3 or more years’ experience as a dispensing optician or related experience from an optical lab setting
+ ABOC
