Job Title: Optometrist
Location: MODESTO, CA OR MERCED CA
Salary Range: $125,000 - $135,000 annually
Sign-On Bonus: $10,000
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Optometrist responsible for providing comprehensive, primary eye care to patients of all ages. This includes performing primary care examinations, diagnosing vision problems and eye diseases, and administering drugs for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The Optometrist will also be involved in quality assurance programs and community networking activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough eye examinations, including refraction and vision acuity tests.
- Diagnose and treat eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
- Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
- Manage diabetic eye care, including retinal screenings.
- Treat acute eye conditions like infections and corneal abrasions.
- Provide consultation and care to pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.
- Direct staff and assist in the development of overall practice operations.
- Participate in quality assurance and peer review programs, as well as staff and committee meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program.
- Valid state optometry license and CPR certification through AHA.
- Board Certification within 3 years of employment.
- Completion of an accredited residency-training program.
- Ability to pass credentialing, background checks, and drug tests.
- Spanish language skills are highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds on wheels.
- Must have close vision and the ability to adjust focus for reading and patient assessments.
- Manual dexterity for handling medical equipment.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, and perform other physical activities associated with patient care.
Work Environment:
The Optometrist will work in a typical clinical setting with an average noise level. The role requires interaction with patients and clinical staff both in person and over the phone.
