Job Summary and Qualifications

The Certified First Assistant in Surgery (CFA) provides assistance to the surgeon or group of surgeons during an operative procedure as a first or second assistant providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. This position will also serve in the Operating Room Scrub Technician role as required or directed based on patient and surgeon needs.

What qualifications you will need:

• Certified as a CST by the Association of Surgical Technologists and/or equivalent or higher education in surgery
  
• CFA Certification through NBSTSA, ABSA or AST; BLS
  
• 2 years as CFA or equivalent surgical experience
