The OR Radiology Technician performs a variety of radiographic duties in an operative setting.
Responsibilities:A day in the life of an OR Radiology Technician at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1. In Radiology Department: Appropriately prepares and administers contrast media agents; reports any adverse reactions to the RN or supervisor and assists with first aid (administering CPR) when necessary. Thoroughly explains all procedures to patients, thus alleviating fears, and addressing all concerns/problems within a timely manner.
2. Safely and efficiently utilizes equipment consistent with patient needs and departmental routine. Obtain optimum radiographs with minimal exposure & proper radiation protection to patient and surrounding staff in OR setting. Marks films with lead ID markers. Initials all films and requests.
3. Technical procedures are performed competently, meeting the Radiologist's & Surgeons expectations. Verifies name and properly identifies patients prior to procedure being performed. Verbally understands and accurately implements physicians' prescriptions/orders. Studies are performed competently and approved by radiologists and or surgeon.
4. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
5. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Graduate of an accredited School of Radiology.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. A minimum of Two (2) years of experience as a practicing OR X Ray technologist in a high volume trauma setting.
2. New graduates with strong clinical experience or who have completed their clinical rotations.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Diagnostic Radiography License or NJ Registered Radiological Technologist License or NJ State Radiography License.
2. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification.
3. BLS/CPR Certification by American Heart Association is to be completed within 90 days of hire.
