Summary

The Unit Clerk/Scheduler is responsible for clerical, receptionist, communication, and office supply procurement duties in the Surgery Department.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Medical Terminology
• Basic computer experience required. Knowledge of windows-based software packages
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Organized, accurate, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet demands
• Ability to problem-solve and work independently
• Excellent telephone etiquette skills

Required Licensure or Certification

• BLS Required
• Completion of office or medical assistant training, preferred

Required Physical and Environmental Demands

Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity and repetitive hand/wrist motions to produce materials on the computer. Normal or corrected vision; normal or corrected hearing; extensive sitting and frequent walking; occasional lifting and carrying from 5 to 20 pounds. Ability to work in a high stress environment.
