Job Title: Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) who will be responsible for managing Oracle database operations and backups, detecting and preventing data corruption, and ensuring database security and performance. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Oracle RMAN backups, database optimization, and database maintenance routines, as well as experience with SQL Server and cloud-based environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Oracle Database Management:
" Manage Oracle database operations, including routine maintenance, optimization, and data recovery.
" Detect and resolve issues related to database block corruption, performance, and availability.
" Perform routine checks to ensure the integrity and recoverability of all Oracle databases.
" Execute database performance tuning to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
" Design, implement, document, and execute robust backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN and other tools.
" Ensure data consistency and recoverability in line with corporate standards and Oracle best practices.
" Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot backup jobs and database log files.
" Ensure database security by implementing and maintaining role-based access control and encryption.
" Apply database patches, upgrades, and service packs to keep database systems secure and up- to-date.
" Perform routine audits and checks for database vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security standards.
SQL Server Management:
" Perform maintenance and administration of MS SQL Server (preferably 2014 and above), including performance tuning, patching, and backup strategies.
" Upgrade SQL Server software to newer versions and apply service packs, hotfixes, and patches as necessary.
" Troubleshoot database issues and provide technical support to development, operations, and business teams.
" Collaborate with system administrators and developers to ensure seamless integration of database systems with other applications.
" Work closely with application teams to monitor and troubleshoot issues using SQL Profiler, event logs, IIS logs, and network monitoring tools.
Automation & Documentation:
" Develop and maintain database management scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
" Document database configuration, resource allocation, and backup/recovery procedures.
" Maintain up-to-date records on database performance, availability, and issue resolution.
" Proactively monitor databases to detect issues before they escalate.
Required Skills:
" Expertise in Oracle database administration and Oracle RMAN backup/recovery processes.
" Experience with detecting and resolving data corruption, performance issues, and database failures.
" Knowledge of Oracle's best practices for security, patching, and maintenance.
" Experience with SQL Server (preferably 2014 and above), including upgrading, patching, and troubleshooting.
" In-depth knowledge of SQL Profiler, database indexing, and performance tuning.
" Experience administering databases in virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
" Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Windows batch, PowerShell, Python) for automating database management tasks.
" Familiarity with database monitoring tools and techniques (SQL Profiler, Oracle Enterprise Manager, etc.).
" Ability to troubleshoot database and server-related issues using logs and performance metrics.
Preferred Skills:
" Experience with in-depth database tuning, query optimization, and index management.
" Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and its integration with databases.
" Knowledge of disaster recovery planning, failover clustering, and high-availability strategies.
" Proven ability to research and evaluate new database technologies and tools for future implementation.
