Job Summary
Denver Health Medical Center in the heart of Downtown Denver, CO is
recruiting for an Oral Surgeon to join our Oral Surgery Department as a
clinician and core faculty member in our Oral Surgery Residency Program.Since
we opened our doors in 1860, Denver Health has had a reputation of providing
for the growing needs of the community. From our start over 160 years ago,
growth and expansion has morphed Denver Health in to a leading safety net
institution, community academic medical center, and patient home providing
care to all patients regardless of ability to pay.Denver Health is now a
555-bed Level I Trauma Center, and one of the largest safety net teaching
hospitals in the United States. Additionally, the institution has grown to
include The Denver Department of Public Health, the Denver Paramedics, and
10 primary care sites located across the Denver Metro area. All told, the
Denver Health system provides more than 315 million dollars of uncompensated
care every year, over one million ambulatorycare encounters, 124,000
ER/Urgent Care visits, and 9,000 outpatient surgeries.
OMFS Program:
Denver Health is home to an impressive OMFS 4 year training program that has
produced several leaders in our field. Currently, we have a four year
program that selects 2 trainees per year.At the end of the program our
trainees meet the core objectives of competency in the following clinical
areas: oral and maxillofacial surgery, anesthesia, medicine,
cardiology, pediatric medicine, emergency medicine, general surgery,
neurosurgery, surgical intensive care, otolaryngology, and plastic
surgery.Currently, we are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, talented
surgeon to join our faculty and be involved in our clinical and residency
education for future generations of oral surgeons.
In addition to residency responsibilities, attendings in Oral &
Maxillofacial Surgery at Denver Health will have the opportunity to practice
full scope hospital-based surgery. Attendings will have an opportunity to
develop a faculty practice in a brand new state of the art facility at our
Outpatient Medical Center and will have responsibilities to cover resident
clinics, and will be appointed a faculty rank at the University of Colorado
commensurate with years of experience/achievement.
Ideal candidates are those who care deeply about providing care to a
underrepresented patient population, resident education, service and want
to join a program dedicated to creating an environment where residents can
grow and thrive.
Candidates considered for the position must be Board Eligible or Board
Certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and must be
able to secure a Colorado State Dental and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
License prior to their appointments.

Essential Functions:
Performs biopsies to determine whether tumors or growths are cancerous.
Administers local, regional, or general anesthetics to patients before
surgeries.
Surgically removes tumors and abnormal growths of the oral and maxillofacial
areas.
Adjusts patients' jaws to provide increased functionality, comfort, and
symmetry.
Removes impacted wisdom teeth and buried dental roots.
Performs reconstructive surgery to treat congenital defects, structural
abnormalities, and injuries.
Prepares patients' mouths for dental implants.
Collaborates with various healthcare specialists to create suitable treatment
plans for patients.
Inf rms patients of their diagnoses and discussing appropriate treatment
options with them.
Education:
Doctorate Degree Required
Licenses:
MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles,
procedures and techniques.
Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while
providing quality medical care.
Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or
exchange ideas by verbal communications.
Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational,
