Details: The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an opening for a tenure track faculty position for a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgeon. The rank will be determined based on the chosen candidate’s qualifications. The successful applicant will be part of a busy sports service that cares for athletes of all ages and abilities, from professional and college-level athletes to high-school athletes and weekend warriors, within an outstanding academic Orthopaedic Department. Team coverage will be an expected aspect of the work performed.
Minimum Requirements: Completion of a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and a one-year advanced fellowship training in operative sports medicine plus board certification or board eligibility. Interest and experience in developing an academic practice and performing clinical outcomes research and/or basic science research is expected. Applicants should have a sincere desire to develop and mentor others to develop focused clinical, research and educational programs in musculoskeletal disorders, which will include publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at national meetings.
Overall, candidates need to have demonstrated an exceptional academic interest and a clear track record of excellence in all aspects of orthopaedics, including clinical care, education, and clinical or basic science research.
