Your Impact
As a Clinical Assistant / Orthotic Fitter, your primary responsibilities include:
Clinical Support (Majority of Role):
- Act as an assistant to the clinicians, providing support in patient preparation, device fittings, and technical fabrication in our state of the art fab!
- Assist with rooming patients, scribing for clinicians, and managing inventory for our Off-the-Shelf devices to ensure smooth clinical operations.
Patient Management:
- Support clinicians in managing patient follow-ups, ensuring accurate and complete documentation in the electronic health record system.
- Assist with coordinating care for prosthetic patients, monitoring case progress, and providing follow-up support as needed.
Hospital Patient Care:
- You will be involved with direct patient care focused on supporting Orthotic fittings and adjustments under clinician supervision.
- Additional responsibilities include assisting with prosthetic patient education and follow-up care to optimize patient outcomes.
Training & Certification Support:
- Opportunity to obtain the certification as an Orthotic Fitter
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment.
- Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with blood borne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Employee must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
Preferred Experience:
- Allied Health Professionals: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), Athletic Trainer (ATC), etc.
- If the Clinical Assistant holds a recognized license or certification in a related allied health profession (e.g., Physical Therapist/PTA, Occupational Therapist/OTA, Athletic Trainer, etc.), they may be supervised under indirect supervision.
- Orthotic, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), or Soft Goods Fitter
- Medical Assistant
Additional Success Factors
Knowledge and Skill:
- Willingness to verify all clinical activities with certified clinical personnel.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Hand skills necessary to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of biomechanical principles.
- Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for reporting information to patient and staff.
- Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize and plan for the purpose of meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
Job Complexity:
- Works collaboratively with certified clinician on assignments that are moderately difficult.
