As an OSP Construction Manager, you will be responsible for providing guidance and direction for the Construction group, oversee team efforts to coordinate and inspect outside plant projects, ensuring projects meet construction guidelines and conform to company standards and specifications. You will also oversee and coordinate the work of construction associates, contractors, external vendors and, as required, government entities to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
What you will do to contribute to the company's success
- Oversee ongoing planned, ad-hoc and maintenance related outside plant activity, directing all aspects assigned projects end-to-end.
- Actively manage, track and report on current ongoing activity and projects, including work progress, schedule, and budget.
- Proactively work with local systems, divisions, corporate office and contractor teams to find solutions to issues that prevent construction projects from completing on time and on budget.
- Review all required reports from field personnel and contractors (including invoicing reports) for accuracy.
- Ensure appropriate acceptance testing of new outside plant facilities, periodically reviewing and updating audits and facility maps to ensure accuracy.
- Verify that all required documentation, including bid jobs, build orders, job start agreements and close out documentation are complete.
- Conduct periodic quality assurance inspections of OSP projects, providing recommendations to management for improving standards and practices resulting in higher quality and lower project costs.
- Research and ensure compliance with all legal requirements, building and safety codes and other relevant regulations.
- Negotiate contractor partner agreements, confirms complete with Cable One design and construction protocol, and resolves financial and quality discrepancies.
- Work closely with the leadership team to develop budgets and allocate appropriate funds for new builds, rebuilds, upgrades and other construction efforts.
- Respond to questions, concerns and complaints regarding construction projects.
- Develop, modify and review existing processes to facilitate application of key performance indicators (KPI).
- Update weekly and monthly progress and activity reports.
Qualifications
- 7+ years' experience
- HS diploma or equivalent
- BS / BA Degree preferred
- 3-5 years' supervisory experience including mentoring and coaching associates
- Experience with forecasting, budgeting, managing P&L
- Valid drivers' license.
- Completion of Systems Technician course.
- Completion of NCTI Fiber Testing & Maintenance course and Cable One Technical Training Center system course (as applicable).
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and city laws, ordinances, codes and regulations.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Knowledge of construction principles and related cost accounting principles.
- Knowledge of construction inspection principles and techniques.
- Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and architectural and engineering drawings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Individuals hired into DOT regulated positions must be able to meet and maintain the requirements under the Company's DOT program, including successfully complete and pass a road test examination, driver's record safety review, drug testing, DOT physical, and past employer safety performance history. In accordance with DOT policy, the Company retrieves driving records and randomly tests for illegal substances.
