The Design Engineer is responsible for providing high-quality service and evaluating customer’s requests in all customers technical spaces, including, but not limited to central office, wire centers, and designated enterprise spaces. The Design Engineer is required to take excellent care of our customers, build relationships, question things, and take action, work hard, work smart, and enjoy the experience. The Design Engineer should be able to work independently and be able to perform duties with little to no direction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Receives and analyzes input documents from customer or field engineer, paying close attention to critical dates and detailed information supplied.
- Completes construction designs in customers CAD/GIS platforms, meeting or exceeding quality and timeliness standards.
- Compiles customer required documentation/reports to meet deliverable requirements.
- Utilizes engineering judgement to ensure design is the most efficient for cable placement and safety for construction services.
- Assist in updating procedures as required to meet customer or equipment requirements.
- Assists field installation groups in resolving technical issues.
- Attends customer held meetings, when needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent, technical degree preferred
- Possess 1 year-experience or equivalent as determined by training program and demonstrated proficiency
- Demonstrate proficient use of Microsoft programs and applications
- Demonstrate proficient use of IOS and/or Android applications
- Demonstrate proficient use of CAD & GIS based design tool(s)
- Verizon / Lumen/ AT&T / Frontier / Co-Op design or fielding experience preferred
- OSP Telecom Experience preferred

- Stationary sitting position, maintain safe work environment while performing routine tasks while at a desk/office
- Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and/or operate computer equipment and tools necessary to complete job assigned functions

- Distinguish between colors, line weights, line styles, alpha characters, and numbers
- Work in an office environment, with possible work activities in the field/outdoors environment.
TRAVEL
- Willing to travel, as required, with primary work functions in an office (home office) environment
