About the Job
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an experienced OSP Designer for our Utility Design Engineering group in Englewood, Colorado. The UDE team works with industry leading internet service providers across the United States to provide network engineering services.
The OSP designer work on the planning, designing, documenting and permitting proposed new outside plant backbone, middle mile and FTTx and BAU build-outs.
- Assist with fielding tasks (Engineering Design Notetaking for both aerial and underground, pole data collection, etc.).
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of applicable building codes and design codes (NEC, NESC, etc.).
- Review jurisdiction documentation and determine design parameters within Right-Of-Way with parameters provided.
- Identify basic components for site design in a Telecommunications fiber network.
- Exhibit understanding of basic Telecom, Fiber-Outside Plant (OSP) design (FTTX, MDU, wiring diagrams, splicing schematics, equipment types, etc.) and design FTTX network with parameters provided.
- Design/Draft Permit Drawings with minimal guidance.
- Prepare specialty drawings (i.e., Utility Company submittals, Railroads, Interstate crossings, landmark designs, etc.) with parameters provided.
- Design Fiber-Optic network (FTTx) using ArcGIS software, or client-designated software, with parameters provided.
- Experience in linear utility engineering and design, experience in fiber-optic/coaxial OSP experience not required but preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or related engineering degree not required but preferred.
- EIT license not required but preferred.
- Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, or similar software packages is preferred.
- Experience with Vetro and IQGeo is preferred.
- Knowledge of local city, county, and state and utility permitting regulations preferred.
- Qualified candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Drivers license is required.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $46,000 to $54,000 (depending on qualifications)
