The Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator is an integral member of the Weisman Children’s Rehab Hospital therapeutic leadership team. Your primary role will be to provide mentorship and clinical support to the OT department. As the OT Clinical educator, your responsibilities will include:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide mentorship to staff in the form of one on one time outside of sessions, hands on guidance during session, or consultation on cases
- Monitor staff caseload and advise on individual staff workload and case distribution
- Coordinate continuing education opportunities (on and off site)
- Create annual OT department goals
- Maintain and communicate current knowledge of state and professional regulatory requirements
- Update clinical competencies in accordance with current treatment standards
- Lead quarterly OT department meetings
- Act as a community liaison representing WCRH therapeutic programs
- As a treating clinician, provide treatment that is family centered in accordance to the mission, vision, and values of this organization
- Plan & implement developmentally appropriate treatment programs based on evaluation results and discharge plan in an effective and timely manner
- Maintain a minimum of 30% scheduled productivity (treatment caseload)
Management Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development and/or update of departmental policies and procedures
- Conduct interviews for potential new staff
- Perform department orientation for all new staff
- Complete OT staff clinical evaluations at 90 days (new employees) and annually (all employees)
- Coordinate with graduate OT programs for Fieldwork Placement
- Support program development for the education and clinical advancement of the OT department
Position Qualifications:
- MA/MS/OTD from an American Occupational Therapy (AOTA) accredited Occupational Therapy program
- NJ OT licensure or eligibility for licensure
- Minimum of 5 years in a pediatric clinical setting (medical or outpatient)
- Experience with treating pediatric sensory processing disorders (in an outpatient setting preferred)
- Experience working with neurological and vestibular diagnoses
- Prior management or leadership experience
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work as a team member
