Overview
The Outreach Coordinator (DV-SA Advocate/PREA Manager) will be responsible for coordinating outreach initiatives, providing advocacy services for domestic violence and sexual assault (DV-SA) survivors, and managing compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). This role is integral to our mission of supporting survivors, promoting safety, and preventing violence in the community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Outreach Coordination
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to raise awareness of DV-SA issues and services provided by Families Living Violence Free.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, schools, and faith-based institutions to enhance outreach efforts.
- Coordinate and participate in community events, workshops, and presentations to promote violence prevention and support services.
- Manage social media and other communication platforms to disseminate information about available resources and upcoming events.
2. Advocacy Services
- Provide direct support and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, including crisis intervention, safety planning, and resource referrals.
- Accompany survivors to court proceedings, medical appointments, and other necessary services.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure trauma-informed care in all interactions with survivors.
- Assist survivors in navigating the criminal justice system and accessing protective orders.
3. PREA Management
- Oversee compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) by developing and implementing policies and procedures in collaboration with local correctional facilities.
- Conduct regular training and education sessions for staff, volunteers, and inmates on PREA standards and sexual violence prevention.
- Serve as a point of contact for inmates reporting sexual abuse and provide appropriate advocacy and support services.
- Monitor and report on PREA compliance, including maintaining accurate records and documentation.
4. Administrative Duties
Maintain detailed and confidential case files and outreach records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Prepare reports on outreach activities, client outcomes, and PREA compliance for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist with grant writing and reporting to secure funding for outreach and advocacy programs.
