About the Role: The Outreach & Program Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and is primarily responsible for coordinating outreach initiatives across CAIR-SD regions. This person drives community engagement, builds our network of volunteers, and plans outreach and programs events.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate efforts to enhance engagement among the wider Muslim community on various social justice and civic issues.
- Coordinate programs such as MGN, MDAC and MYLP focused on civic engagement, youth
development, education, and outreach within the Muslim community.
- Build interest within the community in organizing and advocacy.
- Grow and establish relationships with leaders and the community, including hard-to-reach populations.
- Work with regional partners on advocacy and social justice issues.
- Plan and deliver programs, workshops, forums, and educational sessions to increase engagement and knowledge of critical issues.
- Ensure CAIR SD is present at the masjid and other community events, activities, and meetings.
- Establish and maintain community support for CAIR-SD, including inspiring people to donate.
- Some travel to different parts of San Diego County may be required.
- Support canvassing staff.
- Supporting planning and coordinating fundraising events such as Ramadan fundraisers and Annual Banquet.
- Represent CAIR-SD on high school and college campuses and respective MSA's
- Support and coordinate other staff in identifying and evaluating different types of engagement and outreach tools and training.
- Market, promote, and conduct CAIR-SD outreach events and activities.
- Represent and/or speak publicly on behalf of CAIR-SD.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree preferred.
- One year of experience in the related field is required.
- One plus years of experience working with the Muslim community preferred
- Fluent/proficient in one of the following languages: Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, or Urdu is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with a high degree of professionalism.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability for managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to be productive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking experience.
- Experience working with people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Access to reliable transportation to drive to various cities across the SV/CC region.
- High degree of self-motivation and initiative.
- A strong commitment to CAIR's mission and values.
- Basic computer proficiency including knowledge of MS Office Suite.
