Outside Sales Representative - (Washington / Oregon)
As the PNW Retail Sales Engagement Lead you will be responsible for identifying retail grocery store locations that strategically align with Divert’s routes (encompassing other verticals) to service retailers with our backdoor food waste diversion solution. This role combines utilizing a “hunting” sales mentality coupled with strategic selling skills. This position will report to the Director of Business Development and has the following responsibilities:
- Research, identify, prospect, prioritize and build relationships with grocery stores, supermarkets and wholesale clubs (both local independents and national brands with a local presence) within the PNW region.
- Create, maintain and map a pipeline of all store locations as potential opportunities.
- Work cross functionally to prioritize which store locations are most advantageous to pursue.
- Travel within the region to identify/visit leads, nurture opportunities and close deals for Divert to service the store, or a grouping of stores, via backdoor pickup.
- Achieve sales objectives from prospecting through close and ongoing account management.
- Understand the needs of potential customers, respond effectively with a plan to meet those needs and communicate customer needs internally if different from our current offerings.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, consistently meeting and exceeding monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Provide regular reports on sales activities, pipeline progress, and market insights to management.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Divert’s services and value propositions.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years experience in a similar role, experience selling into or direct experience in the grocery industry is a plus
- Ability to travel up to 60% of the time in the WA/OR area (Pierce & King Counties)
- Strong written and oral communication skills; this role must be persuasive, credible and help key stakeholders recognize the value of Divert’s program
- Eager to expand the company with new sales, clients and reach
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and manage multiple complex projects in cross-functional environments
- Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Previous experience with Salesforce and Slack is a plus
