Competitive Range Solutions requires the expertise of a talented and experienced Outside Plant Technician to contribute to the critical telecommunications infrastructure supporting government and military operations. The candidate must reference their ability and experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) customer environment and effective integration with a government multi-contractor team.
The Outside Plant Technician manages and maintains the outside plant infrastructure critical to telecommunications and network services. This includes everything from manholes and handholes to OSP feed access points and related facilities. The Outside Plant Technician ensures that all outside plant infrastructure is installed, maintained, and managed according to the highest standards of government permits and safety regulations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintain, coordinate, and manage the installation of services for all outside plant infrastructure, including manholes, handholes, and OSP-related facilities.
- Provide daily updates to the Government OSP Lead and coordinate and manage OSP-related meetings with vendors and officials.
- Read, develop, and review construction-related plans and drawings, interfacing with commercial, federal, state, and local utility vendors and officials.
- Process and track all required OSP cabling pulling permits, space permits, and excavation permits under DoD oversight.
- Coordinate Pentagon Reservation access for supporting vendors working on OSP-related projects.
- Record all OSP data in the federal government-approved database.
- Conduct site surveys and provide data for projects installing outside plant media connections.
- Comply with existing BICSI and DoD OSP standards for installation and management of outside cable plants.
- Develop, perform, and coordinate tickets for OSP incidents using the designated Government ticketing system.
- Provide onsite, detailed infrastructure surveys and update findings in the CMDB.
- When surveys indicate non-compliance, provide a comprehensive plan for compliance with DoD and industry standards.
- Prepare detailed configuration "as-built" drawings based on survey findings.
- Manage and perform work projects in accordance with specifications, ensuring complete performance restoration of supported networks and infrastructure.
- Respond to emergency OSP-related outages, providing immediate restoration services as needed.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Active Secret Clearance
- Proven experience in outside plant operations, including familiarity with OSP infrastructure such as manholes, handholes, and cable systems.
- Knowledge of BICSI and DoD OSP standards and local and federal government regulations about outside plant infrastructure.
- Skill in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and drawings.
- Experience with government-approved ticketing and database systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when conducting surveys and developing maintenance plans.
- Ability to work on-call for emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Excellent communication skills for coordination with government leads, vendors, and officials.
Education/Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED. Relevant associate degree preferred.
