OVERVIEW:
Performs various safety and security duties under general the supervision of Director of Safety and Security. Follows established procedures in order to ensure the safety and security of residents, patients, visitors, and employees.
HOURS:
10PM-7AM SUNDAY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Adheres to established procedures and practices regarding the facility’s identification badge system for visitors and employees
• Responds to emergencies as needed (i.e., fire, disasters)
• Performs regular package/briefcase checks on all employees
• Performs access control duties for facility, understands and operates wander guard system.
• Notifies Departments of any emergent situations and provides direction
• Prepares and maintains various logs and reports
• Recognizes, monitors, and reports conditions which may be safe, unsafe, or insecure
• Monitors the closed-circuit television system and responds to security alarm conditions
• Must always be in proper uniform and present a professional image
• Reports unsafe/hazardous conditions observed to the Supervisor
• Demonstrates sensitivity to and an ability to work with the age of the population to whom services are provided
• Assist in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Current valid SORA License
• Good interpersonal/communication skills
• Military, criminal justice or law enforcement experience preferred
• Knowledge of security equipment such as cameras, monitors, radios, and computers
• Ability to read instructions and apply those instructions to the tasks to be performed.
• Ability to hear alarms, patient calls, and instructions from supervisors and staff.
• Achieve and maintain certification in CPR procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• This job operates in a professional office environment.
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear.
• Extensive standing for long periods of time (daily) and walking long distances (daily)
• Work flow subject to frequent interruptions
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs - 150lbs and be able to carry materials and packages
• May be subject to work outside of the facility when working under inclement weather
