Overnight Trauma Hospital Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinates the care and treatment of animals in the Trauma Hospital to ensure complete and humane care is given in a timely manner. Compile and report on all departmental activities of the overseen medical areas. Train new staff members, oversees restocking and cleanliness of work areas, create staffing schedules, approve time cards, and coach staff as required. Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure efficient flow and treatment of all patients. Evaluate, update and implement new/existing policies and procedures to keep medical areas in adherence to all board, OSHA requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate, train, evaluate and direct the activities of the Medical Team.
- Promote safety on a continual basis; promptly report all on-the-job injuries sustained by medical staff working in the trauma hospital to the Manager.
- Provide input to the Manager on staff performance, policies, and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure that department goals are achieved.
- Coordinate, train, evaluate and direct the activities of the Medical Team.
- Work in conjunction with the Manager to develop, maintain, and oversee the OSHA program for medical areas.
- Complete weekly ordering for inventory to include control substances. Work on the control substance logs and weekly/monthly inventory counts.
- Oversee the tech check open project list, coordinate daily technician duties and assign cleaning duties.
- Inform Veterinarians regarding status of all animals under treatment that have been waiting for longer than 72 hours for medical procedures.
- Perform technician duties alongside with medical teams.
- Assist with interviews, coaching on job performance and add input on staff review.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma OR GED required.
- Graduation from technical school preferred
- 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or shelter medicine
- One year supervisory experience.
- Must be able to fulfill all duties of a Vet Tech II or CVT.
- Strong communication skills
- Should have good interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict.
- Flexible work schedule
Language Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills. Bilingual skills helpful
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical skills.
Computer Skills: Computer proficiency required. Ability to learn Chameleon software (shelter software) .
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver's License.
Other Skills, Abilities and Qualifications: Regular attendance, punctuality and access to reliable transportation required. Wear appropriate, clean uniform with a name tag at all times.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment: There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
