While reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for engineering activity related to design, development, manufacturing and implementation of both custom designed solutions and customer provided requests. What you'll be doing: Use 3D CAD systems to design packaging components and utilize appropriate CAD software to generate tool paths for CNC routers, 3D Printing and Kongsberg Cutting tables. Produce prototypes from standard wood shop equipment. This equipment includes: Table saws, band saws, planers, chop saws, hand drills, drill press, s Utilize package handling tests to verify and validate proposed designs. Tests include Clamp, Compression, Incline, Drop, and Vibration. This position is located in Hartsville, SC. We'd love to hear from you if: You have an engineering degree with 5-10 years of professional experience. You have a broad knowledge of how to manufacture corrugated cartons, die cut corrugated, molded foam, and wire cut expanded polystyrene. You have a thorough understanding of the various package handling tests run to verify and validate proposed designs. Tests include Clamp, Compression, Incline, Drop, and Vibration. You have the ability and willingness to work with manufacturing to develop new processes for new design concepts, and to improve productivity of our current process. You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) Efficient with SolidWorks 3D CAD software. You have knowledge of the functionality and performance characteristics of a variety of protective packaging materials. These materials include, but are not limited to, Sonoco cornerpost (SonopostTM) corrugated fiberboard, paper honeycomb, molded and extruded foams (EPE, EPP EPS), and a variety of tapes, adhesives, and fasteners. Compensation: Engineer III: The annual base salary range for this role is from $100,560 to $113,130, plus annual target incentive of 7.5% of base salary.
