VERTICAL FURNACE INSPECTOR
Under the directions of the Manufacturing Manager, incumbent is responsible for the quality inspection of curved tempered glass.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
DUTIES
100% Inspects for imperfections in glass including form, size, scratches, edgework, chips, supplier defects, cracks, rubs, mold marks determining what is passable per glass specifications.
Observes optical distortion assuring glass meets standardized requirements.
Performs regulatory testing in compliance with work instruction requirements to assure proper tempering requirements are met.
Verifies that all glass produced complies with customer requirements as specified on customer work order and mylar.
Correctly completes production and quality assurance paperwork as required.
Builds hanger set-up in appropriate and timely manner to achieve highest, quality yield possible.
Changes and sets up molds as necessary.
Installation of air templates and set-ups.
Set up and installation of tong boards.
Helps to determine the root cause of various defects and works in a team role to help eliminate the cause if possible.
Records every run to ensure that appropriate paperwork has been accurately documented.
Performs preventive maintenance duties as required.
Reads and follows all packaging specification sheets for inside and outside customers when available.
Observes and adheres to all safety related rules and procedures.
Assisting in departmental housekeeping, maintaining a clean and orderly workstation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of industry standards including pattern size, warp, distortion.
Ability to assist in furnace changeovers:
Ability to understand quality standards associated with each application.
Ability to use tape measure and understand specification sheets.
Must have ability to do simple calculations.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Good physical condition / Good visual aptitude.
DIFFICULTY OF WORK
The work consists of simple and relatively standardized inspection processes. The understanding and ability to make practical application of the above requirements is essential to the operation to ensure the production of quality products.
