Position Overview
We're working with a client in the sugar refinery industry who’s looking for a Packaging Manager at their northeast Colorado facility. This role reports to the Director of Supply Chain and the Plant Manager, and leads the sugar packaging operations.

Essential Functions:
- Leadership: Strong leadership, independent thinking, organizational skills, planning abilities, and excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Safety First: Be a safety leader with a focus on achieving a zero-injury workplace.
- Clean & Safe: Maintain a clean, safe production environment.
- Optimize Packaging: Plan, organize, and direct packaging operations for peak performance.
- Team Development: Work closely with your team to boost their knowledge and motivation.
- SOPs: Develop, train, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- KPIs: Use Key Performance Indicators to drive packaging line performance.
- Continuous Improvement: Maintain a continuous improvement mindset, holding yourself and your team accountable.
- Problem Solving: Apply Root Cause Analysis to address and permanently solve issues.
- Shift Management: Set up effective shift exchanges and schedules for smooth operations.
- Performance Reviews: Conduct formal two-way performance reviews with direct reports twice a year.
- Accountability: Administer the collective bargaining agreement and handle grievances promptly.
- Materials Management: Build strong ties with Purchasing to ensure a steady supply of high-quality packaging materials.
- TPM Support: Collaborate with Maintenance to support and drive a robust TPM program.
- Budget Tracking: Keep track of expenses and manage them against the annual budget.
- Capital Planning: Work with the Director of Supply Chain on capital planning for your department.
- Customer Focus: Help implement strategies that lead in customer service, cost efficiency, and product quality, including GMP and audit compliance.
- Visual Management: Use Visual Daily Management to engage your team and ensure proper line support.
- Commitment: Be prepared for more than 40 hours a week, including weekends, to meet job demands.
Skills & Experience Requirements:
- Personality: Friendly, results-oriented, and collaborative.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, industrial technology, or business preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role in packaging operations.
- Track Record: Demonstrated experience in improving safety, productivity, and quality.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with all levels, from hourly staff to senior management.
- Process Improvement: Familiarity with Lean Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and continuous improvement processes.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Customer Focus: A strong focus on customer satisfaction
Salary: $100-125K; benefits; 401K 6% match; relo assist; EOE; NO Sponsorship
