Trinity Health IHA Medical Group has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Palliative Care physician to join our inpatient team located in Oakland, Michigan.
Our Palliative Care team may consult with patients, families, and other healthcare team members to treat pain and other symptoms, help with discussion of goals and wishes, or provide extra support to help families find needed resources to assist in caring for their loved one.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Palliative Care Physician to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive palliative care services to patients with chronic pain and serious, life-limiting illnesses. The role involves both inpatient and outpatient care, with a focus on improving the quality of life for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with complex pain conditions and those requiring palliative care.
- Develop and implement individualized pain management and palliative care plans.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide end-of-life care and support for patients and families, including management pf symptoms such as pain, nausea, fatigue, and depression associated with chronic or terminal illnesses.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, disease process, pain management techniques, and palliative care principles.
- Work closely with internal medicine physicians, oncologists, surgeons, and other specialists to coordinate patient care.
- Coordinate care transitions, including hospital to home, hospice, or other care facilities.
- Stay updated with the latest research and advancements in pain and palliative care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Licensure: Valid State of Michigan License
- Certification: Board certification in Palliative Care. Additional certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in palliative care.
