Position Overview:
As a Paralegal in our CVA Department, you will play a vital role in supporting attorneys with negligence, personal injury, and medical malpractice cases. We are looking for someone with excellent organizational skills, who can manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively. Reliability, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Communication: Maintain regular contact with clients, providing updates and gathering necessary case information.
- Calendar Management: Organize and manage legal calendars, including scheduling court dates, meetings, and depositions.
- Document Drafting: Prepare legal documents such as motions, complaints, and other court filings.
- Discovery Management:Handle discovery requests and responses, including obtaining necessary authorizations.
- Medical Record Handling: Acquire, review, and manage medical records and relevant documentation.
- Court Filings: File legal documents electronically and in person, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Deposition Scheduling: Coordinate depositions between attorneys, clients, and opposing counsel.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to ensure the department operates smoothly
Qualifications
- Experience: 1-5 years of paralegal experience in personal injury, negligence, or medical malpractice cases within a law firm.
- MDEC Proficiency: Familiarity with Maryland’s Electronic Case Filing system (MDEC) is strongly preferred.
- Certification: Paralegal Certification is preferred but not required.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
- Attention to Detail:Precision in document preparation and case management is critical.
