Paralegal
Kimbel Mechanical Systems is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our Legal Department. The primary function of this role is to assist with the review and analysis of building and construction codes, ordinances, regulations, and statutes to ensure compliance with applicable laws. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in the legal field, ideally within construction and government contexts, and possess at least five years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze building and construction codes, ordinances, and regulations to ensure compliance with state and local requirements.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of licensing applications and renewals.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of legal documents and be familiar with the filing requirements and deadlines under applicable law.
- Conduct legal research on statutes and regulations relevant to the construction industry.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary documentation and information for licensing purposes.
- Maintain organized records and files related to licensing and compliance activities.
- Support the Legal Department with various administrative tasks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with government agencies, clients, and internal stakeholders regarding legal inquiries and requirements.
- Monitor changes in regulations and provide updates to the team on relevant legal developments.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field preferred.
- CP certification preferred.
- A minimum of five years of paralegal experience, with a focus on construction law, licensing, or regulatory compliance preferred.
- Familiarity with building and construction codes, ordinances, regulations, and statutes.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Government experience is preferred but not required.
