Position Summary: Provides natural gas and electric utility regulatory support. Also conducts legal research, investigates disputes, performs contract administration support; and provides legal support on a wide variety of matters handled in the legal department.Pay Range: (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)Paralegal I: $27.38 - $41.08 per hourReporting Relationship: Associate General CounselLocation: Denver, ColoradoEssential Functions:
* Assist in handling all aspects of electric and natural gas-related regulatory filings for the Public Utilities Commission, as well as case management, which includes, but is not limited to, drafting and responding to data requests, preparation of pleadings and written testimony, filing of documents, and other needed assistance.
* Support counsel in monitoring state and federal regulatory agencies and work with counsel and business leaders to ensure that company aligns with applicable state or federal laws, regulations, and orders.
* Investigate disputes either by or against the company, draft memos and letters and provide recommendations to counsel for review and approval.
* Support counsel in the administration, preparation, drafting, review and discussion of a variety of contracts and agreements, working closely with internal business managers and other partners.
* Perform legal and other research as requested by attorneys.
* Work with internal lawyers, other legal staff and business leaders to support delivery of other legal services, as needed.
What You'll Need:Paralegal I:
* Bachelor's Degree Paralegal Studies or equivalent experience in corporate or private legal practice.
* Minimum of (3) three years of in-house, governmental or law office paralegal experience
* Certified Paralegal Certificate Upon HireWhat Is Desired Or Can Be Taught:
* Legal Department/office work environment, including confidentiality requirements.
* Standard legal proceedings and related written documentation.
* Legal research techniques.
* Sophisticated knowledge of office administration practices and concepts.
* Written business communication and report writing techniques.
* Communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, with all levels of the organization; clients, witnesses, internal and external legal counsel, customers; vendors and contractors; and local, state, regional and federal agencies.
* Pays attention to detail.
* Obtain, compile, organize and analyze complex regulatory or transactional documentation.
* Coordinate a variety of tasks and assignments simultaneously.
* Maintain confidential information.
