Jamison Professional Services, Inc. (“Jamison”) is currently seeking a qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Paralegal I.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:
The mission of the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of Maine, is enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States according to the law; to ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic; to provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime; to seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior; and to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all. Paralegals offer a comprehensive support including legal memorandums, pleading, discovery, briefs, bankruptcy petitions, case management and other paralegal-based services.
REQUIRED AND DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Minimum Requirements
- Required two-year undergraduate degree or equivalent.
- Waived: One-year experience in related field.
- Must possess essential qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, and an ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Attention to detail and the ability to read and follow directions.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The contractor must have the ability to prove U.S. citizenship and that the contractor personnel meet the Department of Justice residency requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of various software including, but not limited to, Eclipse, Trial Director, Case Map, IPRO and QuickBooks.
- The contractor should have the ability to deliver the highest quality work under pressure, and knowledge of software used by the USAO (or the ability to acquire knowledge about the USAO’s computer systems).
- The contractor must possess essential qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, and an ability to work cooperatively with others.
A Paralegal I perform but is not limited to the following duties:
- Process evidence in various databases
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation
- Provide Apprentice examination of legal instruments
- Review legal instruments (completeness of information, proper execution)
- Conduct research and obtain additional information related to specific cases
- Determine correctness of action (per Government regulations, procedures, etc).
- Research records (to ascertain conditions that might preclude action)
- Provide assistance on instruments
- Provide information on instruments
- Gather facts for cases and routine reports
- Perform initial review of petitions
- Verify citations and legal references on legal documents
- Proficiency with numerous software including IPRO, CASEMAP, QUICKBOOKS, and MICROSOFT SUITE.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Monday – Friday, 40 hour workweek. (Time TBD)
Overtime: Overtime may be required to support the requirement of this task order.

The contractor may be required to travel from time to time in the course of this contract’s performance.
Pay Rate: 24.33/ hr with benefits
Clearance Level Required: Must be able to pass a Federal Background check.
