Schumacher & Co., America's leading name for designing and distributing fabric, wall covering, floor covering, and furnishings is seeking a diligent paralegal to join our highly collaborative workplace. The ideal candidate is adept at multitasking and support and has previous experience working for a law firm or corporate legal team. This role serves as the eye and ears for the Executive team, connecting organizations, projects, and critical business information to the Executive team, ensuring meetings and Materials are efficient and effective and services as trusted partner to deliver against the legal priorities of the business. This individual is expected to handle highly sensitive and confidential financial, legal, personnel and institutional information while exercising professionalism and discretion.

Paralegal Job Responsibilities:
- Collects, compiles, and organizes evidence and legal documentation for outside council review
- Researches case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sources, such as laws, regulations, and legal decisions and articles
- Assists with the preparation, filing, and service of contracts, filings, and pleadings
- Acts as a liaison among all parties for scheduling and sharing information
- Organizes and manages documents, including creating spreadsheets and retrieval systems
- Coordinates the collection, review, and production of documents and responds to discovery requests
- Assists with trial preparation, including the assembly of exhibits, witness binders, and appendices for depositions and court filings
- Attends trials, depositions, and other legal proceedings, taking notes and assisting attorneys as needed
- Summarizes deposition and trial transcripts and exhibits
- Drafts licensing agreements
- Prepares patent and copyright applications, and tracks their status
- Conducts IP research
- Assists with IP application submission
- Compiles information and prepares statistics, charts, graphs, and other summaries to detail the findings
- Files exhibits, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents with the court and opposing counsel
- Uses legal software and databases to assist lawyers and clients
- Tracks billable hours for client invoicing
- Manage scheduling for company executive(s)
- Draft, review and send communications on behalf of company executive(s)
- Organize and prepare for meetings, including gathering documents and attending to logistics of meetings
- Answer and respond to phone calls, communicate messages and information to the executive
- Maintain various records and documents for company executive(s)
Paralegal Qualifications and Skills:
- Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program of education and training, or an associate degree in paralegal studies.
- Associate degree.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associate's degree from an ABA-approved paralegal education program or a bachelor's degree preferred
- Certification, such as designation as a NALA Certified Paralegal or Advanced Certified Paralegal, National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) Registered Paralegal, or National Association for Legal Support Professionalism (NALS) Professional Paralegal, a plus
- Past work experience and training under the supervision of a licensed attorney
