About the Job
A prestigious law firm is looking for an experienced civil litigation paralegal to join their insurance defense team. The Firm allows 2 days of remote work per week.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Open records requests/FOIA requests
- Order medical, billing, radiology, pharmaceutical records
- Order employment records, prior insurance claims, workers' compensation records
- Paid v. incurred charts
- Create and prepare binders and/or digital notebooks for impending depositions, mediation or trial
- Bates label and redact confidential and privileged materials
- Prepare production logs
- Draft discovery responses and pleadings
- Review and summarize medical records
- Consult and retain experts for obtaining counter-affidavits or expert reports to address alleged injuries or liability
- Compile, organize, and segregate documents and materials for attorneys review and analysis
- Prepare pre-trial docs, motions and exhibits
- Deposition summaries
- Adhere to client guidelines by calendaring required deadlines
- Should be familiar with local court rules/guidelines and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure-Conduct research (for example: order police reports, obtain information via public data website, obtain comprehensive persons reports, etc.)
- Review all ECF filings and identify next steps
- Schedule mediations, depositions, meeting, experts-Calendar scheduling orders
- Software programs that they utilize are Centerbase and NetDocs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Minimum of 5+ years of civil litigation paralegal experience
- Insurance defense experience is highly preferred
