Paraprofessional (RISE II Program)
The Hurld Wyman School is actively seeks candidates who will contribute and are committed to a diverse school community and inclusive educational practices. We currently have permanent, full-time openings for a Paraprofessional to support our Early Childhood/Elementary Special Education programs within the district.
The Special Education Paraprofessional assists in the education of students with disabilities within the RISE II Program. Work with children with moderate to severe disabilities, follow programs related to ABA, mental health, therapeutic, academic, or discrete trial settings across programs, as indicated on IEP’s.
FULL-TIME SALARY & BENEFITS PACKAGE:
This position starts on a Step 3 in the WPS contract, for a starting salary of $29,801.15

Role and Responsibilities:
- Support RISE II Program students - academically and socially across school settings.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Ability to de-escalate behaviors.
- Maintain a calm, supportive demeanor while supporting students.
- Implement individualized behavior plans
- Provide necessary accommodations and modifications
- Assist teachers in preparing student materials
- Provide direct 1:1 instruction
- Demonstrate reliability, be well organized, and have sound judgment while dealing with student matters
- Maintain ongoing communication with the program and building staff on behalf of the student.
- Other duties as assigned by Principal and Special Ed Teachers.
Qualifications and Skill Set:
- Minimum High School diploma; higher degree preferred, such as Associate's or Bachelor’s degree
- Safety Care certified or ability to be certified in Safety Care
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferred (or willing to receive training)
- Ability to take the initiative and work independently
- Ability to de-escalate behaviors
- Calm, neutral demeanor
- Reliable and well organized with sound judgment
- Effective oral and written communication
- Willingness to work on academics, social skills, and activities of daily living, if needed
