Department Summary:The UCLA Asset Management Department provides full-service property management for University-owned high-rise office buildings in Westwood (eight buildings containing 2M SF, occupied by 150 primarily University tenants and generating $30M of rental income), and limited-service property management to 90 other University owned properties.Position Summary:6 months parking attendant experience (Required) Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis, using appropriate vocabulary and grammar with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds to provide information and explain procedures effectively. Ability to relay information, either in writing or verbally, in a professional manner. (Required) Demonstrated ability to assess problematic or emergency situations and plan/execute an appropriate solution based on established guidelines, policies or procedures. Ability to handle highly confidential matters with tact and diplomacy and to maintain confidentiality of information as needed to protect the rights of individuals or the University. (Required) Ability to work any shift throughout a 24-hour period as mandated by management. (Required) Ability to work outside and year round in inclement and clement weather, using established foul weather gear provided by the department. Ability to work in an underground parking garage. (Required) Ability to hear and understand ordinary dispatch communications received over a 2-way radio and to use appropriate radio language. (Required) Demonstrated skill in making appropriate job decisions using standard policies and procedures as guidelines. Ability to exercise judgment, discretion and take appropriate action in resolving problems and/or customer issues when answers are not readily apparent. Ability to articulate directional information to staff and customers based on the physical complexities of the campus and parking areas. (Required) Skill in and ability to listen attentively and exchange ideas, information and opinions with others to assist in the formulation of policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions. (Required) Ability to work effectively with conflicting demands, changing priorities and heavy workloads. (Required) Demonstrated skills in mathematics and cash handling in order to maintain accuracy and accountability regarding cash, ticket handling and refund processing. (Required) Knowledge of parking equipment and supplies such as pay stations, automated valet systems and handheld computers. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:High School Diploma GED acceptable or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required) Possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License 1 year (Required) Special Conditions of Employment:Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation. Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired. Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
