About the Job
The City of Birmingham, MI, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Parks & Forestry Operator. Under supervision of the Parks and Recreation Foreman, performs a variety of landscaping, maintenance and operational duties.
Work requires specialized knowledge of department operations and some independent judgment. Operates mowing, spraying, snow removal, and other related landscape equipment requiring substantial skill and knowledge of safety procedures. May be assigned to miscellaneous duties related to department work projects. Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED, supplemented with courses and/or training in landscaping or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of facility and ground maintenance experience with parks, forestry, or a related activity.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License with A or B endorsements; and State of Michigan Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification.
- Knowledge and skill in the operation of power equipment to include lawn mowers, tree trimmers, sprayers, and power tools.
Salary and Benefits
- Position offers an hourly pay range starting at $23.90.
