The Rehab Therapy Summer Internship position functions as rehab tech in the department. Assists the department with daily tasks such as cleaning, stocking, record keeping, and assisting therapists during therapy tasks. Time is primarily spent in the pediatric department.
Specific projects will be assigned to this role include key research projects for each therapist. Additionally, this intern will work on the development of therapy materials for our pediatric program. A specific skillset that is key to this role is that the intern is approachable and friendly to patients and staff.
The work schedule for this internship is Monday through Friday. The hours would be from 8:30-5:00 p.m. For this Summer Internship Position, a specific program or areas of study that would area best fit a student with an educational background in PT, OT, or ST (Physical, Occupational, Speech Therapies), or Exercise Physiology.
Must meet one of the following requirements current CNA EMT or Paramedic certification or must take Parkviews Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire 2 years experience in a healthcare related field training time will be determined based on experience currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18 two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted. Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required). Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire. Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to think critically. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
