Day in the Life
TheAthletic Trainerwillbe responsible for coordinatingall aspectsof carefor patients starting with pre-visit preparation, clinical visit, post review, along with scheduling surgeries while maintaining leadership within theFoot and Ankle Clinic. Under the Supervising Physician inside the Foot and Ankle clinic and the Clinical Director, the Athletic Trainer evaluates referred patients and designs/implements plan of care based Physician preferences, patient functioning, diagnosis, treatment, self-management, and access to health care resources. The job components include department leadership, Foot and Ankle clinic operations, patient care coordination and surgical scheduling.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and updating charts while reviewing past notes, and checking plan of care.
- Pulling updated records for visit which includes vitals, PT notes, consultation notes, diagnostic reports, lab reports for visit.
- Removing any casts/splints, sutures/staples and ordering any new diagnostic tests needed.
- Reviewing patient intake forms while obtaining problem focused histories.
- Completing problem focused exams, interpreting diagnostic tests, and presenting finds to the Physician.
- Joining Physician during assessment, preparing injections and casting/splinting and assisting with wound care.
- Reviewing diagnosis and treatment plan with patients, while clarifying any questions and give recommendations during education of the treatment plan.
- Obtaining prescriptions, referrals, medications and imaging for patient per Physician.
- Scheduling patient for surgery and completing clearance documentation for clearance.
- Answer patients post-operative questions while assisting with post-op care.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; plus a graduate of approved N.A.T.A. school.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience preferably in medical practice setting, 800 hours clinical as required by N.A.T.A
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and EHR
- Experience in Urgent Ortho care setting preferred but not requiredThis positionrequires flexibility for occasional evenings and Saturdays to participate in marketing and outside events. This position willalso require to work at both of the locations located in Orland Park and Oak Lawn.
