Summary
Checks books and materials in and out; assists patrons; shelves books; and assists with opening and closing library.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Checks books and materials in and out of library for patrons
- Assists patrons with general questions and with operation of copier, microfilm reader, printer, and computer, including Internet
- Shelves books, magazines and newspapers
- Collects money for library service fees and late fines
- Generates lists of overdue books and materials and reminds patron of overdue items
- Assists with opening and closing library
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- High school graduation or its equivalent, with library experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge Of
- Library classification systems; and standard office practices and procedures.
Skill/Ability To
- Operate computers, including word processing and spreadsheet software
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public
- Provide excellent customer services
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Read and interpret manuals, policies, and other documents
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Texas driver's license
