Mechanic -- Part-Time (Non-Exempt)
Rate: $16.00/hour -- starting rate based on prior experience and education
Location: Concord Woods Nature Park -- Annex, Concord Twp., OH 44077
Position Description:
Under the direction of the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanic assists in servicing and completing preventative maintenance services and needed repairs on a broad spectrum of equipment, including but not limited to passenger vehicles, light & heavy-duty trucks, mowing equipment, utility task vehicles, trailers, tractors, construction equipment as well as small engines.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Inspects, diagnoses, adjusts and repairs mechanical defects/failures of park equipment and vehicles.
- Repairs and adjusts cutting mechanisms on various heavy and light mowing equipment.
- Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
- Maintains shop equipment and tools to ensure they are always kept in a safe, clean, and serviceable condition.
- Keeps up with preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment and vehicles, i.e. oil changes, filter changes, air, etc.
- Communicates any needs or problems relating to maintenance or repair of equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Course Superintendent or Assistant.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of equipment repair experience required.
Position Requirements:
- Knowledge of basic mechanics
- Knowledge and excellent troubleshooting skills on various types of equipment repair.
- Knowledge of how to safely repair hydraulics in relation to various types of equipment.
- Knowledge of all related safety regulations and compliance in on-going safety training requirements.
- Mechanical skills and knowledge of repairing diesel, gas, and small engines.
- Basic equipment operation skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Must be able to work on a number of tasks simultaneously.
- Must be a team player, flexible, and well organized.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to operate vehicles/truck and trailer properly.
- Ability to operate various types of tools and equipment.
- Ability to interact with others with tact and courtesy and maintain integrity and appropriate behavior in dealing with conflicts and challenges with the public, co-workers, and managers.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to work in a team setting to accomplish park-related goals.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Proficiency in computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Variable work schedule, up to 28 hours per week.
- May be occasionally required to work flexible hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Must possess a valid drivers' license and insurable on the Agency's liability policy. Pre-employment background check required.
