About the Job
About the Role: ESS is seeking a Part-Time Professional Development Trainer and Coach to support educators, school counselors, parents and stakeholders by expanding their knowledge of trauma-informed practices, emotional regulation, understanding behavior, and student mental health, and building their capacity to cultivate safe, productive learning environments through professional development workshops and coaching.
The candidate must have knowledge of trauma-informed practices, student social emotional struggles and possess a passion and willingness to provide professional development and coaching on an array of mental health issues and educational topics to groups of educational professionals.
This position will include training to ensure that the chosen candidate will have strong knowledge in ESS's professional development offerings and mission. In addition, candidates will have access to all necessary professional development artifacts within the ESS library which includes PowerPoint Presentation, presentation notes, facilitator guides, handouts, and additional tools for any given topic.
Candidates will provide in-person trainings and coaching within the school setting environments in the Walton, NY area. This project will require up to 7 days (42 hours) per month to meet all deliverables. In-person trainings and coaching will be within a defined region to any school district within that region.
Responsibilities
- Provide trauma-informed professional development to school districts through presentations and workshops throughout the school year
- Train and coach a cohort of district staff (up to 20 staff members) through monthly group and individual coaching sessions, through observation and regular feedback
- Submit coaching scores after sessions and share findings as needed
- Provide consultation to school professionals and clinicians as needed

Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
- Reliable Transportation to and from the school sites assigned
- Stable Internet connection and proficient with technology including use of a laptop computer, various web-based software such as Microsoft 365, Zoom, and other tools as needed

Qualifications and Skills
- Master's degree in education or mental health related field strongly preferred.
- Must have understanding and knowledge of trauma-informed practices, student mental health and social emotional struggles.
- Must have a passion to provide trainings and coaching to educational professionals and parent/caregivers on student mental health issues.
- Plus, but not required, have at least 1 year of experience providing professional development and coaching on a broad array of mental health topics.
- Plus, but not required, have experience or certification as a Nurtured Heart Approach and/or Youth Mental Health First Aid (Y-MHFA) trainer.
