Job Summary



Join a talented group of more than 75 dietitians at the University of Virginia Health System in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. At this level one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 675 bed inpatient setting, as well as in over 35 outpatient clinics. RD's participate in research and quality improvement projects, host dietetic interns, and are supported in pursuing leadership and community service experiences. Continuing education opportunities are plentiful from within the accomplished nutrition team and from the health system which values ongoing training and education

As RDs, we know how important nutrition is. As oncology RD's, we know how important adequate nutrition and truthful nutrition information can be for patients at any point in their cancer journey. We get to experience a unique joy in helping our patients in tangible ways, while getting to know them on a personal level. We collaborate with the interdisciplinary teams to meet our patients' needs and make sure they feel well cared for. At UVA, we have the opportunity to care for patients with cancer from a wide array backgrounds and geographical locations. This part-time 20 hr./wk position will serve our Community Cancer Center in Augusta. The role will include both on-site and remote work. Whether or not you have a background in oncology nutrition, if you are interested in learning more, enjoy building strong working relationships with an interdisciplinary team, having a flexible schedule, and working closely with patients to build meaningful relationships over time, this job may be perfect for you!


Key Responsibilities:



+ Provides medical nutrition therapy including nutrition assessment, diet modification, nutrition education, and intervention for the patient population


+ Follows all guidelines as outlined within the Company Diet Manual and the Clinical Nutrition Policies & Procedures Manual


+ Complies with all regulatory standards to include federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies


+ Trains and mentors patient services staff and interns as applicable


+ Participates in patient satisfaction programs, departmental meetings, and facility wide Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs






Qualifications:



+ Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)


+ Licensed by the State Dietetics Licensing/Credentialing Board, in states where required


+ One (1) year of hospital experience, preferred


+ Possess the necessary skills to effectively utilize Microsoft office applications, electronic medical record & diet office systems, and nutrient analysis programming
