Purpose
Join our esteemed team at Kamada Plasma's Specialty Plasma Center in Beaumont, Texas - a key cornerstone of our expanding collection network. We're looking for a skilled Phlebotomist to perform specialized plasma collection procedures with a focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
Under the direction of the Center Manager, the Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting plasma from donors, ensuring proper handling and documentation, and maintaining a positive and professional donor experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to following established protocols and safety guidelines.
This part-time position requires 20-30 hours per week at the Center and is not eligible for company benefits. We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
Plasma Collection Procedures:
- Perform plasma collection procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
- Greet and prepare donors for the collection process, ensuring their comfort and providing clear instructions.
- Conduct thorough screening interviews to assess donor eligibility and medical history.
- Verify donor identification, complete necessary paperwork, and accurately record donor information in the electronic database.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols throughout the collection process.
- Collect plasma using apheresis equipment, following established protocols and maintaining a sterile and safe environment.
- Monitor donors during the collection process, addressing any adverse reactions or complications promptly and appropriately.
- Properly label and store collected plasma samples, ensuring accurate documentation and chain of custody.
Collaboration and Development:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sanitizing equipment and disposing of biohazardous waste.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and team members to provide exceptional donor care and support.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to plasma collection and phlebotomy techniques.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to all quality control procedures and assist with audits and inspections as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect donor privacy throughout all aspects of the job.
- Follow organizational policies and procedures, including ethical guidelines and professional standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in phlebotomy preferred.
- Employment experience as a phlebotomist preferred.
- Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques and aseptic procedures preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to provide excellent donor care and maintain a positive donor experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Proficient computer skills for data entry and electronic record management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
