The Prevention Specialist provides Prevention Education programming in assigned classrooms in assigned schools.
JOB DUTIES:
- Conduct prevention education programming and classroom presentations utilizing evidence-based prevention curriculum as assigned.
- Work with supervisor and available training to become familiar and comfortable with various evidence-based prevention programs, including Second Step, Catch My Breath, Too Good for Drugs, Prevention Plus Wellness.
- Administer pre and posttests for each lesson where applicable.
- Communicate with teachers about completing DESSA Mini where applicable.
- Complete WITS billing forms for all activities in electronic billing system.
- Attend DDAP-required trainings as available and requested (Prevention 101, Ethics in Prevention, Addictions 101, and Categorizing Prevention).
- Assist with scheduling of classroom presentations as requested by supervisor.
- Attend individual and group supervision sessions monthly as scheduled.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field.
- Classroom teaching or presentation experience preferred.
