About the Opportunity
The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is seeking applications for a Research Coordinator within the Emergency Department. This position will provide support to the DEM Ultrasound and DEM Research Divisions by helping to recruit and consent eligible subjects for the collection of ultrasound images and corresponding health information for a currently funded research study.
What You'll do:
- Maintain sensitive, private health information in accordance with HIPAA standards and regulations
- Be willing to attend required project meetings
- Be able to work side by side with the investigators in the clinical environment at flexible times, scheduled on a weekly basis
- Assist in identification of eligible and appropriate patients
- Educate patients, hospital and other WVU research study personnel regarding study requirements to ensure that all relevant individuals understand the study intent and procedure
- Obtain and properly document informed patient consent, and ensure all patients receive copies of signed consent forms
- Record all necessary patient information in the recruitment study log
- Ensure secure storage of study device(s) and all confidential study documents
- Communicate with the investigators on any project related issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an allied health discipline or related field
- A minimum of six (6) months of experience in a medical or clinical setting
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Have experience with/prior utilization of electronic medical record systems to facilitate subject identification and data extraction
- Ability to read and interpret study protocols, regulatory and study compliance documents
- Effective communications skills, both written and verbal
- HIPAA, CITI training (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative), and Good Clinical Practice Training completed within 15 days of hire
