We are looking for a part-time Teacher Assistant to join our Japanese School at the Lower School for the 2025-2026 school year (starting on January 2025 or earlier) and play an active part in the day-to-day activities of our nursery and Pre-K classes in English. The ideal candidate will be compassionate and self-motivated as well as possessing the innate joy of working with young children. He/she will be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment. This role is a part time role with approximately 20 hours a week.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment
- Work with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule
- Go over lesson material with students individually or in small groups
- Ensure the classroom environment is safe, clean and tidy
- Oversee students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, recess, and on-field excursions
- Collaborate with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions
- Help lead teachers to create lesson plans
- Comply with state, school, and class rules and regulations.
- Attend all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetings
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field is preferred
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a teaching assistant or similar role
- Fluency in English language required
- Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices
- Must have a compassionate and positive attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities
- Preferred candidate will have a current U.S. work visa, if applicable
Benefits
The hourly range for this position is $24 - 26 per hour, depending on the experience and skillset of the candidate.
This role is eligible for benefits (if final schedule is at least 20 hours per week) including medical insurance (80% covered by employer), dental, vision, Flexible Savings Account (FSA), and 401K retirement plan.
