We are looking to hire an experienced Parts Clerk for one of the foremost truck dealerships in the Northeastern United States! The Parts Clerk is responsible for customer service, both on the phone and in person, on the front or back parts counter. This is a full-time opportunity with great benefits and an opportunity to grow your career! Must be able to work an alternating schedule of Monday-Friday and then Tuesday- Saturday 8: 00 am to 4: 30 pm
Daily Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
This is a physically demanding position. They will move throughout the parts shelves all day, reaching and climbing to obtain parts from inventory. Will stand six to eight hours during a shift at the customer counter, of which the surface if 44 inches from the floor. When delivering parts to the service department and body shop will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Will be required to lift to 120 pounds.
Daily Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide a positive self and company image to customers, vendors, and other employees.
- Maintain a neat, clean appearance always.
- Participate in Parts Academy Training and Elite Dealer training –DTNA and other training as instructed by supervisor.
- Complete the Parts Department training manual and ensure Managers sign off training sheet.
- Stay attuned to industry related developments including subscribing to and reading free industry publications.
- Be proficient in computer and manual medias for all OEM parts applications including Freightliner, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Kalmar Ottawa, Stargate, BWS and other major component suppliers well as Excelerator applications.
- Be proficient in the CDK computer system.
- Perform assigned daily tasks and monthly tasks timely and initial.
- Greet customers immediately by name, if known, and provide prompt, courteous service.
- Assist in selecting required parts, companion parts, offer specials and ensure that the customer is exposed to complete product line.
- Always observe phone etiquette. Solicit assigned accounts by phone. During slow periods contact customers and advise of potential specials or follow up previous sales.
- Set up orders for daily delivery, shipment, or pickup.
- Maintain a thorough, working knowledge of medium and heavy-duty truck parts.
- Help maintain inventory by making supervisor aware of any parts needing to be reordered or new parts for stock.
- Log lost sales in CDK system.
- Advise supervisor of any vendor or customer using improper techniques in dealing with FMI.
- Understand warranty and core acceptance guidelines.
- Tag and label warranty parts and regular cores and locate these to appropriate areas for processing.
- Provide courteous assistance to office personnel when needed.
- Issue credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified. All exceptions must be approved by the manager.
- Ensure that all charge sales slips are signed by the customer.
- When making tax-exempt sales other than to a charge or cash account, ensure that the customer’s full name, address, ICC number and signature is obtained.
- Assist in Shipping and Receiving when necessary.
- Assist O.P.S. Salesmen with morning orders.
- Check will-call and back orders daily. Notify customers when parts arrive
- Assist service technicians in selecting parts for repairs, ensure parts are charged to correct RO and if CP or Warrant
- Confer with service department daily on all work in process that is waiting on parts. Provide accurate arrival time of parts so they can schedule repairs.
- Source parts required outside DTNA network when necessary.

- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- Basic computer skills and internet experience.
- Professional personal appearance.
- Ability to work well with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time.
- Will be required to wear a dealership provided uniform.
- Clean MDV license
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Must have at least 1-3 years of similar experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
