Parts Manager - Quincy, IL
Job Overview: Our client is seeking a Parts Department Manager to oversee their Quincy, IL Parts Department. This role is responsible for coordinating counter and outside sales, shipping and receiving, as well as selling and distributing truck parts to customers while maintaining required profitability levels. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in auto/truck parts and leadership or management experience. Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
The Parts Manager will lead the parts department, guiding and coaching employees, maintaining strong customer relationships, and managing warehouse operations. This position ensures accurate pricing, efficient distribution, and readily available parts. Collaboration with other departments, such as Service, Sales, Corporate Parts Buyer, and Inventory Operations, is key to maximizing sales and profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction.
This is a Direct Hire role.
What you will be doing as a Parts Manager…
- Lead, coach, train, and evaluate parts department staff to ensure performance meets company standards.
- Monitor employee progress through regular performance evaluations and development plans.
- Manage employee scheduling for the retail display area and warehouse to ensure adequate coverage.
- Develop and adjust customer pricing strategies in collaboration with Territory Managers and Corporate Parts Buyer to stay competitive and profitable.
- Manage customer relationships and resolve pricing and invoicing issues.
- Oversee inventory procedures, working closely with the Inventory Operations Manager to ensure accurate stock levels and orderly parts inventory.
- Supervise the retail display area and warehouse, ensuring parts are organized, displayed effectively, and easily accessible.
- Collaborate with the Service and Truck Sales departments to boost sales and profitability.
- Monitor customer receivables, ensuring timely payments and resolving any issues.
- Work with Corporate Parts Buyer and Inventory Operations Manager on product selection, inventory management, returns, and pricing strategies.
- Coordinate with Corporate Sales Manager and Territory Managers to manage outside customers, deliveries, and customer concerns.
- Collaborate with Marketing Manager to create sales flyers and promotions.
- Schedule employee training to ensure all team members stay up to date on product knowledge, safety, and company policies.
- Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Automotive Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a parts management role, preferably in the automotive or heavy equipment industry.
- Proven experience in managing inventory, setting pricing, and leading a team.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
