Job Overview
Direct Parts Assistance Center, other departments and dealer personnel when needed, by determining the correct spare part for a specific application when that information is not available in regular tools (e.g., XHPI). Research and analyze the data from the production sequencing systems, factory-purchasing records, engineering drawings, consult with the vendor, and utilize other conventional and non-conventional tools. Analyze new part numbers for technical accuracy and applicability to USA models. Review new model and major face-lift parts lists from Germany for technical accuracy and applicability to USA models.
Extract minor face lift and model year change parts lists from relevant systems and review for technical accuracy and applicability to USA models. Develop and deliver educational materials for dealers concerning the best practices for utilizing existing tools to obtain accurate and timely parts information. Analyze current inquiry trends and develop new tools as necessary to resolve current and anticipated issues. Support various departments by creating special parts information, listings and kits. Serve as the technical authority on spare parts. Provide advice and recommendations to other departments and Client as a consultant on market-specific tactical and strategic parts issues.
Direct the processing of parts orders requiring special handling, such as orders for new engines or transmissions, to ensure the usage of these high-value or low availability parts meet policy guidelines. Maintain the accuracy and effectiveness of the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) and serve as customer advocate by developing and shaping the strategic direction of the EPC application for the market and ensuring new features are implemented in a timely fashion. Review error reports and other information, confirming issues, issuing correction notes to dealers and other customers, and advising responsible areas of the need for corrections. Responsibilities
- Manage spare parts information for all vehicles supported.
- Work independently to provide internal customers (DPS, SCM, Engineering, Warranty, Marketing, etc) and dealers with parts expertise, information and analysis not available through other channels or tools.
- Coordinate interdepartmental parts processes and the creation of supporting documentation.
- Design and develop documentation, resource guides, and trainings aids to support internal and dealer network for parts processing and specification.
- Act as subject matter experts in the utilization of engineering level tools (e.g. DIALOG, Smaragd, Engineering Client, Connect).
- Create content for presentation on the monthly Dealer Parts Webinars based on market trends.
- Support onboarding & continuing education of Parts Assistance Center Dealer Parts Representatives.
- Ensure the accuracy of Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) data including investigation and root cause analysis of documentation errors for escalation to MBAG for correction.
- Manage and investigate escalations from Dealer Parts Services via Client Workbench to provide timely resolution of parts technical escalations.

- Support special projects within the Parts Technical area as required.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree/Certificate in Applied Sciences with a focus in Automotive Technology or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of automotive parts and service experience.
- Technical: Comprehensive and extensive background in the location and technical/functional components of parts on both passenger cars and vans with the ability to understand repair and diagnostic procedures. Client Master Certified experience preferred.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem solving skills and methods required.
- Communication: Ability to convey complex technical and systems information to non-technical staff.
- Software: Comprehensive and extensive knowledge using the Client Parts Catalog, Work Instructions, and Vehicle Documentation software systems. Engineering software and experience is preferred.
- Business: Knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization.
- Supply Chain Management: Basic principle knowledge on the process of procuring, producing, and delivering of products and services to customers.
- Retail: Proficient knowledge of automotive retail processes and procedures with emphasis in parts, service and accessories.
- General knowledge of processes, quality control, costs and other techniques in order to achieve maximum efficiency.
