Your Role with the Company:
The Pastry Sous Chef is responsible for assisting in managing the pastry team, along with the Executive Pastry Chef. Primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Supervise, train, and coach kitchen staff
- Ensure foods are prepared in accordance with company standards for quality, freshness, consistency, and timelines
- Ensure all equipment is operated safely via OSHA regulations
- Ensure proper food storage and safe handling practices
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of foods as order volume dictates
- Oversee the managerial aspects of the Kitchens, with focus on food cost and labor costs
- Other duties as dictated by Executive Pastry Chef to run smooth BOH operations
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of strong experience as a Pastry Sous Chef in a bakery
- A passion for gourmet food and an appreciation of French pastry artistry
- Culinary degree strongly preferred
- Able to work under pressure with ease, especially during very busy periods
- Experience in analyzing inventory vs. ordering needs
